1. Overview
BirthFate is a local-first birthday reminder application developed by AprilMHz Studio. BirthFate does not require a BirthFate account or operate a developer-hosted server for storing your birthday records.
2. Birthday data stored on your device
Information you enter in BirthFate, such as names, birthdays, calendar type, tags, notes, and reminder settings, is stored locally on your device. Calculations such as upcoming birthday dates, Korean zodiac signs, and day pillars are performed on-device.
3. Contacts
If you choose to use contact import, BirthFate requests permission to read contacts so you can select contacts that have birthdays. BirthFate copies only the birthday information needed for the import you choose. The app does not modify your contacts and does not upload your contact list to an AprilMHz Studio server.
4. Notifications
If enabled, BirthFate uses your device's notification features to schedule birthday reminders at the dates and times you select. Notification permission can be changed in your device settings.
5. Backup and restore
BirthFate can export birthday data to a JSON backup file and restore from a compatible backup. The file is saved to a location you choose using your device's file picker. AprilMHz Studio does not automatically upload these backup files to its own server.
6. Advertising
The free version of BirthFate may display banner advertising provided by Google Mobile Ads. Google may process technical information necessary to provide advertising in accordance with Google's own policies. BirthFate does not send your birthday records, contact names, tags, or notes to the advertising service.
7. Purchases
BirthFate may offer a one-time purchase to remove advertising. Payments are processed by the platform store, such as Google Play or Apple's App Store. BirthFate does not receive or store your payment card information.
8. Data deletion
Because BirthFate's core birthday records are stored locally, you can remove individual records inside the app. Uninstalling the app removes its local application data according to your device platform's behavior. Backup files you created separately remain wherever you chose to save them until you delete them.
9. Children
BirthFate is not designed to knowingly collect children's personal information on an AprilMHz Studio server. The app's core records remain local to the user's device.
10. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when BirthFate's features or third-party services change. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when material changes are made.
